Balurghat Lalit Mohan Adarsha Uchcha Vidyalaya is a higher secondary school for boys & for girls(for class 11 & 12 only) situated at the Ward no. 8 of Balurghat Municipality in Dakshin Dinajpur of West Bengal.[3]

History

[edit]

Balurghat Lalit Mohan Adarsha Uchcha Vidyalaya was founded in 1949 in the Beltala Park area of Balurghat, following the partition of India. Initially, the school consisted of just a few rooms, providing basic education to displaced families. However, as the student population grew, the pressing need for additional space became evident. At this pivotal moment, a benefactor generously donated a piece of land, enabling the school to expand its facilities. In gratitude, the institution was named in honour of his father. Over time, the school established itself as a beacon of academic excellence and community service.

Throughout the years, Balurghat Lalit Mohan Adarsha Uchcha Vidyalaya has flourished under the leadership of distinguished headmasters such as Dhiren Kundu and Abhijit Mukherjee. These visionary figures have worked with unwavering dedication to ensure the school’s continued prominence in the realm of education within the region.[4]

Curriculum

[edit]

The school follows a rigorous curriculum set by the WBBSE and WBCHSE to provide a comprehensive education to students from class 1 to 12, with Bengali as the medium of instruction. The curriculum for classes V to X is structured by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), encompassing a diverse range of academic subjects. These include Bangla, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physical Science, Biology, Computers, Work Education, and Physical Education. Balurghat L. M. A. U. The curriculum includes core subjects such as Bengali, as the first language, and English, as the second language.

In addition, students are given the freedom to choose from a wide array of elective subjects across different streams.
