Ayachi Zammel (Arabic: العياشي زمال) is a Tunisian chemical engineer, CEO of the Ayachi Group, Secretary-General of the Azimoun party, and a candidate in the 2024 Tunisian presidential election
Born in Siliana, Zammel obtained a degree in chemical engineering from the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis. He has been in the industry since 2007 and heads one of the companies of the Ayachi group, specialized in the packaging of tomatoes. His brand "Safir" is one of the best-selling in the country. [1]
He became interested in politics late in life and joined the Tahya Tounes party, a defector from Nidaa Tounes as soon as it was founded in January 2019. In October of the same year, Zammel was elected in his constituency of Siliana. He resigned from the party in 2020 but remained a member of parliament until Kais Saied's 2021 presidential coup [2]
As a candidate in the 2024 Tunisian presidential election, Zammel runs on a pragmatic, anti-coup stance.
