Axiad is a privately-held SaaS identity cybersecurity company headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company was founded in 2010 and focuses on providing advanced authentication solutions to protect against identity-based cyber attacks.
History
[edit]Axiad was founded by Yves Audebert and Bassam Al-Khalidi, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in cybersecurity and technology. Since its inception, the company has aimed to offer robust cybersecurity solutions, particularly in the realm of identity and access management.
In January 2021, Axiad raised its first institutional financing of $20 million from Invictus Growth Partners to accelerate the future of passwordless authentication (PR Newswire[1]).
Over the years, Axiad has developed a range of products to enhance digital security for enterprises, contributing significantly to the field of identity management.
Products
[edit]Axiad Cloud
[edit]Identity-based attacks are growing in potency and frequency: IDSA reported in their 2024 survey (IDSA 2024 Trends in Securing Digital Identities[2]) that 91% of organizations experienced identity-based attacks. While multifactor authentication (MFA) has been available for years, most implementations are weak and do not provide true phishing resistance. Axiad Cloud provides an advanced authentication toolset that combines MFA, cloud-based PKI, and robust credential management utilizing x.509 certificates and FIDO passkeys. It helps organizations deploy and manage strong authentication processes across people, machines, and applications without replacing existing systems. The result is better security, lower costs, happier users, and fewer support calls.
Certifications
[edit]Axiad holds a broad set of certifications, including SOC 2, FedRAMP (2023), and SP800-53 Moderate Impact Controls (Axiad Fact Sheet[3]).
Axiad is also a board-level member of the FIDO Alliance (FIDO Alliance Members[4]).
In 2024, Axiad announced it had secured its US Government agency sponsor to initiate the important FedRAMP Authorization to Operate (ATO) process (FedRAMP Marketplace[5]).
Leadership
[edit]Axiad's leadership team includes:
- David Canellos, CEO (joined on February 21, 2024) (Interview with David Canellos, Axiad's new CEO[6])
- Alex Au Yeung, Chief Product Officer
- John Babbidge, Chief Technology Officer
- Brian Szeto, Chief Financial Officer
- Bassam Al-Khalidi, Chief Innovation Officer
- Jerome Becquart, SVP, Operations
- Zahid Johar, VP, Engineering
- Sergey Starzhinskiy, VP, Systems Engineering
- Marc Puverel, VP, Customer Success
- Ivy Tan, VP, Human Resources
(Axiad Leadership Team[7])
Performance
[edit]In Q2 2024, Axiad posted strong quarterly performance, with significant growth in both revenue and customer acquisition (LinkedIn[8]).
