Arvind Khaire is a renowned self defence instructor and advocate, recognized for his pioneering self defence programs designed for corporate environments, women's safety, and individuals with disabilities. As the Founder and Director of CTS Self Defence, Khaire has been teaching realistic self defence since 1999, significantly shaping personal safety education across India by making self defence accessible and practical for a diverse range of audiences. His programs have reached thousands through workshops conducted nationwide, catering to women, corporate professionals, schools, colleges, NGOs, women with disabilities, and martial arts instructors.[1]
In addition to his hands-on training work, Khaire is the author of Every Woman's Survival Manual Khaire, Arvind. Every Woman’s Survival Manual. Jaico Publishing House, 2004, ISBN 788179922378. Its Marathi edition, Stri Aani Swasanrakshan. Manovikas Prakashan, Marathi Edition, 2006. which provides comprehensive self defence guidance aimed at empowering women with practical safety skills. Biography
[edit]Arvind Khaire was born in Maharashtra, India, where he developed an early interest in martial arts and self defence. Driven by his passion for empowering others through self-protection, he pursued extensive training across multiple disciplines, including Judo, Karate, Kobudo and Shansou. Khaire founded Combat Tactical Systems (CTS Self Defense) with the mission to provide effective self defence education that is practical and empowering.[1]
Career
[edit]Khaire’s career in self defence training spans over two decades, during which he has developed unique programs aimed at corporate employees, police departments, and vulnerable groups such as women and individuals with disabilities. His self defence workshops focus on practical techniques, situational awareness, and verbal de-escalation. He has collaborated with organizations and government bodies across India to increase awareness of self defence and promote personal safety.
Significant career highlights include:
- Corporate Self Defence Programs: Khaire introduced self defence modules into corporate settings, training employees in Bangalore, Pune, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Goa and Gurugram on techniques suitable for both workplace and commuting scenarios.

These sessions aim to enhance employees' confidence, safety, and well-being, particularly during late shifts or commutes.
- Women's Empowerment Programs Designed to equip women with essential self defense skills, these workshops address real-world situations and have been conducted in schools, colleges, and community centers across India. The programs provide women with critical tools to recognize and respond to potential threats effectively.
- Inclusive Self Defense Programs for People with Disabilities Through collaborations with organizations, Khaire developed inclusive self-defense programs tailored for individuals with disabilities. His pioneering work led to the first-ever digital self-defense courses for individuals with visual, hearing, and orthopedic disabilities in partnership with the American India Foundation (AIF), a nonprofit organisation. This initiative has successfully trained and certified over 534 girls and women, demonstrating the power of inclusivity, empowerment, and technology to overcome barriers in personal safety. - “Fighting with the Inner Enemy” In 2009, Khaire partnered with the MANAV Foundation to run a one-year self defence program for mentally ill and emotionally disturbed adults at Masina Hospital, Mumbai.
