Any Love is the B side track from Massive Attack's first single "Daydreaming" released on 15th August 1990,the song was not featured on their debut album "Blue Lines" released 8th April 1991,6 months later and thus became a less known and semi obscure song to the majority of fans,however is often considered a staple of the groups early works and a truly classic and groundbreaking track. The A side prove to much more successful reaching number 81 in the singles charts giving a fanbase for the song to gain popularity. The singles A side was attracting the British public to a new sound as their first cultures first exposer to breakbeat and sampled based downtempo mixed with Dub/raggae and soul that became known "Triphop" crossing over into Alternative Hip-hop with the song helping to expand the discography of the groups early material before the relade of their first album. "Blue Lines" often the first album considered to be and a pioneer of the genre. With production elements borrowed along with vocal deliver from sound system culture mixed with ambient electronica and sub bass frequency and heavy focus on basslines and riddim or dub inspired musical timbres setting it apart from the other artist in the field,which mainly focused on jazz and psychedelic or lofi hiphop approachs using RnB,Soul,Funk,Jazz,Disco and various world genres samples as inspiration with a avant garde mindest almost akin to IDM or Industrial,none of which was present in Massive Attack's music the emphasis was on the bass, low end frequency and dub influences with rapping at the front centre giving surrealist and existentialist ambience of hynoptic sounding tricky blended hiphop with a deep and driving bass. For first the time Hiphop and dub had been truly blended and crafted into "TripHop" a new musical style now considered one the main genre of electronica, with Psybient,lofi hiphop and TripHop all often being grouped together with "Downtempo" being used as umbrella term for the crossover of styles and influences.
