Aniebiet Jumbo, popularly known as Jumbo, is a Nigerian-American songwriter, trumpeter and producer based in Maryland, US. Jumbo released his debut album, Brand New Day, in 2009 and has since released four additional albums. Some of his notable songs are Imela, Kosi, Hosanna, You Are, Running and Most High.
Early life and education
[edit]Jumbo was born on April 28 in Akwa-Ibom, Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and was taught by his father, Elijah Jumbo, how to play the harmonica and flute. He started playing these instruments and learning music at the age of 5. Jumbo attended St. Finbarr’s College for secondary school studies, completed IT training at Aptech and obtained a bachelor's degree in IT at Sikkim Manipal University.
Jumbo currently resides in Maryland with his wife, Binta Jumbo, and their two kids, Joy and David.
Music Career
[edit]Jumbo has worked with many prominent gospel artistes all over the world. One of Jumbos' songs, Most High, was covered by Chandler Moore and Maverick City.
Jumbo headlines the worship concert “We Will Worship,” an annual worship concert that gathers thousands of people to praise God since 2016. The concert has featured other gospel artistes like Nathaniel Bassey, Jonathan Nelson, Victoria Orenze, Timothy Reddick, Phil Thompson, Deborah Lukalu, Osby Berry, and so many more. The concert is held every summer in Jumbo’s home state of Maryland.
