Andreas Franz PREIN (born 1982) is an Austrian metereologist, and professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Education
[edit]Prein earned his bachelors and masters degres in environmental system science cum laude and PhD in physics cum laude at the physics department of the University of Graz in the area of climate simulations.[1][2]
Work
[edit]Prein started his career as a postdoctoral scientist at the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change at the University of Graz in 2013. 2014 to 2016 he moved on to the National Center for Athmosperic Research in Boulder (NCAR), as postdoctoral scientist with the NCAR advanced study program. From 2016 to 2021 he has been a project scientist at NCAR. 2022 Prein was appointed as deputy director of capacity center for climate and weather extremes at NCAR.[2][3]
In 2024, Prein became a professor of High-Resolution Weather and Climate Modelling in the Department of Environmental Systems Science of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.[4]
