Early Life and Education

Amrita Singh was born on December 2, 1991, in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. She was raised in a musically inclined family, influencing her early interest in music. Amrita received her initial music training from her mother, Aditi Singh, who was also her first guru. She further honed her skills under the guidance of Rajendra Prasad Hazari and Birendra Prasad Hazari, focusing on classical music, Rabindrasangeet, and Nazrulgeeti. Amrita trained in Kathak dance under Alpona Hazari for nine years.

She completed her 10th Board at Surendra Narayan Girls High School] in 2005, followed by her 12th Board at Raja Bijay Singh Vidya Mandir in 2007. Amrita then pursued a BA in Bengali (Honors) at Sripat Singh College.

Career

Amrita Singh began her music career as a backing vocalist for Global Indian Music Academy Awards (GIMA) from 2015 until 2019. Her first significant break came in 2017 when she debuted her playback singing in the film Hate Story.

In addition to her playback work, Amrita gained recognition for participating in the reality show Indian Idol in 2007 and 2008. She has since worked on various music projects across different genres, including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, English, and Spanish.

Personal Life

Amrita Singh married in 2017 and welcomed her son in 2020. Her family has been a constant source of support throughout her career. She is also the younger sister of Indian playback singer Arijit Singh.
