Aminat Folorunsho (born February 14, 2006) is a Nigerian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria U-20 women's national football team, also known as the Falconets. Recognized for her technical skill and playmaking ability, she is one of the rising stars in Nigerian women's football. Folorunsho was part of Nigeria's squad at the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana, where she contributed to the team’s performance in the women's football tournament.[1]
Early Life and Career
[edit]Aminat Folorunsho was born and raised in Nigeria, where she began playing football at a young age. Her talent was quickly noticed in local football academies, leading to her recruitment by Rivers Angels, one of the premier clubs in Nigeria’s Women Football League. At just 16 years old, she has established herself as a key player for the team, known for her versatility in midfield, her agility, and her ability to control the tempo of the game.
Since joining Rivers Angels, she has helped the club maintain its dominance in the NWFL. As a midfielder, she plays a crucial role in both defense and attack, offering creative playmaking and strong ball control. Her standout performances in the domestic league have earned her recognition as one of Nigeria’s most promising footballers.
Folorunsho's international debut came as part of Nigeria's U-20 women's national team, the Falconets. In 2023, she was called up to participate in the African Games in Accra, Ghana, by head coach Chris Danjuma. Her performance in the tournament solidified her status as an emerging talent, with a strong showing that contributed to Nigeria's progress in the competition.
In addition to her role in the African Games, she has also been an important part of Nigeria’s 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification campaign. Her inclusion in these major international tournaments at such a young age highlights her potential for future growth and success.[2][3][4]
