Amaran is the soundtrack album to the 2024 biographical action war film of the same name directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner with Sony Pictures Films India starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi and Bhuvan Arora. The soundtrack is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar and is set to be released under the Saregama record label.
Development
[edit]Amaran is Prakash's maiden collaboration with both Sivakarthikeyan and Rajkumar. Initially Harris Jayaraj was considered to compose the musical score, before Prakash being chosen.[1][2] Prakash's inclusion was confirmed on May 2023.[3][4] Soon after his inclusion, he started composing the tunes while parallely working on other projects. In June 2024, he revealed that he had almost completed working on the film's music.[5] According to Periasamy, Prakash had composed five songs for the film, with two of them being fast-paced numbers.[6] In late-September, it was revealed that Prakash had further composed two bit tracks after watching the film's final edit.
Marketing and release
[edit]The music rights were acquired by Saregama.[7] The film's audio launch was held at the Sri Sai Ram Engineering College in Chennai, with the cast and crew in attendance.[8]
Singles
[edit]In an interaction to fans on X (formerly Twitter), Prakash revealed that an "energetic love song" is set to be released as the first single from the album after production house's approval.[9][10] In late September, the single's title was revealed to be "Hey Minnale" and being Prakash's 700th song he composed.[11] It featured lyrics written by Karthik Netha and sung by Haricharan and Shweta Mohan.[12] It was released on 4 October 2024,[13] and was positively reviewed, with praise for Sivakarthikeyan and Pallavi's chemistry as well as the composition.[14][15]
The second single "Vennilavu Saaral" was sung by Kapil Kapilan and Rakshita Suresh with lyrics written by Yugabharathi.[16] It was released on 17 October.[17] The song "Por Veeran (Azadi)" which was sung and written by Arivu, was released as the third single on 19 October.[18] The fourth single "Uyirey" sung by Nakul Abhyankar and Ramya Bhat with the lyrics of Vivek, was released on 30 October.[19][20]
