Amanda Mustard (born in 1990) is an American filmmaker and photojournalist. She worked as a photojournalist for more than a decade residing in Bangkok, Thailand and Cairo, Egypt. Mustard is director, producer, and subject of the documentary film Great Photo, Lovely Life which is based on her investigation of her sexually abusive grandfather. The film won Best Feature Film at the LES Film Festival, and was nominated for an IDA Documentary Award for Best TV Feature [1] [2][3][4]

Early life and career

Mustard was born in Pennsylvania in 1990 on Christmas tree farm in rural Pennsylvania. She learned to play marimba during her childhood, later playing on the original score for Great Photo, Lovely Life composed by Dan Deacon.[citation needed]

2011 at the age of 21, she moved to Cairo, Egypt as a freelance photojournalist covering breaking news during the Arab Spring. After 3 years in Cairo, she moved to Bangkok, Thailand in 2014 and continued to work as an independent photojournalist.[5]

In 2023, Amanda Mustard’s directorial debut Great Photo, Lovely Life was released on HBO, after 8 years in the making. [2][3][4][1]
