Amalia Nicole Ververis (born June 11, 1993) is a American singer-songwriter.
Biography
[edit]Amalia Ververis was born on June 11, 1993, to parents Nicholas and Colleen Ververis. She was raised in Burlington, Connecticut, along with her two younger brothers. Amalia's mother was a performer for the USO, and a professional singer and pianist, while her father was a guitarist. She grew up around music, and her first performance on stage was at the age of eight with her rendition of Part of Your World from Disney's The Little Mermaid. ... [1]
Career
[edit]Amalia started in theater and film. At just the age of nine, Amalia starred in multiple short films for PBS.
When Amalia was 15, she took the lead role in the play The Boyfriend, as Maisie. In 2008 Amalia auditioned to be in an elite vocal group (Connecticut Childrens Choir) at Hartt School of Music, with the acceptance was given the opportunity to tour France, performing at numerous historical landmarks including the Notre-Dame Cathedral, Eiffel Tower, and Normandy Beach.
In 2010 Amalia and her brother John, and Michael Johnson were featured on Dick Robinsons Great American Songbook series performing Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
2011-2012 Amalia attended and graduated from Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Farmington, Connecticut.
In 2012 Amalia performed at a candlelight vigil in honor of Sandy Hook.
2012-2013 Amalia worked for Clear Channel Radio (now known as iHeart Radio) as an intern producer for Springfield, Massachusetts morning radio show.
Amalia moved to Barnstable, Massachusetts in 2015. In 2017 she formed a band alongside Michael Machaby, called Melic Moon. Melic Moon has been nominated for Best New Artist, and Female Vocalist of the Year for the 2021 and 2022 New England Music Awards. Amalia and Michael (and drummer David Ellis) recorded their debut album Natural Thing in their own studio (Underground Recording Co.) and released their album in May 2020. Their work was featured in Cape Cod Times and on multiple local radio stations.
Amalia was a featured artist for the 2022 Cape Cod Women's Music Festival in Dennis, Massachusetts.
In 2024 Amalia released her first solo single "Once Upon A Time" recorded with Paraclete Press.
