Alison Richards (born October 29, 1959) is a Canadian writer, filmmaker, and educator known for her contributions to film, video, and special event productions. She has directed and produced several award-winning projects, including feature films, documentaries, and music videos.

Early Life and Education

Richards was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where she developed her skills in performing arts and storytelling.[1] Before transitioning behind the camera, she worked as an actor, host, and journalist in Vancouver.[2]

Career

In 2006, Richards founded The Film Co-Op, a hybrid production house that blends traditional studio practices with independent filmmaking, providing resources for emerging creators.[1]

Her debut feature film, F-Stops (2001), received critical acclaim and won the Remi Award for Best Film at the Houston WorldFest. It was also showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, highlighting her excellence in visual storytelling.[1]

Richards also directed Every 15 Minutes (2003), a documentary addressing teenage drinking and driving, which has been widely used in California high schools as an educational tool.[3]
