Career
[edit]Cheltenham Town
Born in Swindon, Avenell was a part of the Cheltenham Town youth system. On 23rd March 2019 he was loaned to Hellenic Premier club Bishops Cleeve until the end of the season. He made five appearances on loan at Bishops Cleeve with a strong loan spell at just age 17. In his second year at Cheltenham Avenell then went on loan to Tuffley Rovers to gain further experience in mens football while also being part of the successful U18s squad who played Arsenal in the third round FA Youth Cup. At the end of the 2019-2020 season he was released by Cheltenham Town.
Kidderminster Harriers
On 1st June 2020 Avenell then moved to National League North club Kidderminster Harriers under manager Russell Penn. Avenell was part of the first team squad for training & was included in Matchday squads. At the end of the 2020-2021 season despite being offered to stay another year at Kidderminster Harriers he turned this down & moved to League rivals Gloucester City.
Gloucester City AFC
On the 1st of July 2021, Avenell officially signed for National League North club Gloucester City under manager Paul Groves. The young goalkeeper was included on the bench in 9-0 defeat to Chorley. After Gloucester had a poor start to the 21/22 campaign Lee Mansell became manager of the club. Avenell made his debut for the club against Slimbridge in the GFA County Cup & after an impressive display then went out on loan to Southern League club Wantage Town. After a week on loan to Wantage he was recalled for his league debut against Gateshead.
He then featured for several weeks in the squad before being sent back to Wantage. His season was cut short due to a dislocated knee.
Avenell was offered another year for the 2022-2023 at Gloucester City & was sent out on loan to Highworth Town in the Southern League. In January 2023 Avenell made the switch to National League South club Chippenham Town.
Chippenham Town FC
On 3rd January 2023 Avenell joined National League South Club Chippenham Town. Avenell made his debut in the Wiltshire Premier Shield Semi-Final where he saved a penalty to help the club progress to the final.
In December 2024 Avenell was sent on loan to Malmesbury Victoria.
