Alberta Heritage Awards
[edit]The Heritage Awards are presented every two years, in recognition of individuals, non-profit organizations, corporations, municipalities and First Nations and Metis settlements for contributions to the protection, preservation and promotion of Alberta's heritage.[1] There are three different award categories:
Heritage Conservation Award
Recognizes projects completed in the last three year, such as:
- conservation of a Provincial Historic Resource, Municipal Historic Resource or Indigenous Historic Place
- identification, protection and management of historic places
- protection and management of palaeontological and archaeological resources
Heritage Awareness Award
Research, publications or public engagement projects completed in the last three years that have promoted greater understanding and/or awareness of Alberta’s heritage.
Outstanding Achievement Award
Recognizes an individual’s or organization’s leadership and contribution to the preservation and presentation of Alberta’s history. Recipients should have a minimum of 10 years of involvement with the heritage sector in Alberta.
