Career

[edit]

Early years

[edit]

His career breakthrough came in the early 1990s, when he was invited to host the show Fischia la notizia on Napoli Canale 21. There, he first contacted the impersonator and comedian Lino D'Angiò, who joined him in his new television work.

In 1996, he and D'Angiò created the show that brought him significant fame: TeleGaribaldi on Teleoggi-Canale 9, the most-watched program in Campania at the end of the 1990s. After two years of peak viewership[2][3] and having performed two consecutive years with "sold-out" theater shows such as Natale in casa Bassolindo and Spasso dopo spasso in casa Bassolindo[2][4], the duo (after a guest appearance on the comedy program Rai 2 La posta del cuore with Sabina Guzzanti) moved to Telenapoli 34 to host Avanzi popolo! for two seasons (1999-2000).

He also worked as a director, screenwriter, and actor, always in partnership with Lino D'Angiò, in the 1999 film Non lo sappiamo ancora, produced by Rodeo Drive in collaboration with Rai.

In the spring of 2000[5], the partnership with Lino D'Angiò ended (the artistic separation would last eight years). Alan De Luca then participated as a presenter in other television programs, including the fifth season of TeleGaribaldi (for only a few months), Maradona Show, hosted with Alessandro Siani, and Licola dei Famosi, the latter two broadcast on Telecapri.

Reunion of D'Angiò and De Luca

[edit]

In 2017, the D'Angiò-De Luca duo hosted a program similar to Telegaribaldi titled Made in China on a local channel, PiùEnne, which aired on Canale 8 in 2018.[6] In 2020, the comedy duo hosted another show, Koprifuoco, on Canale 21. Over the years, the two actors have continued their theatrical activities with various shows, including "...E che teatro!" and "Lezioni di napoletanità".
