On Tuesday, December 10th 2024, a six story building collapsed in Cairo's Al-Waily district. It injured three people and killed eight others.[1] The building was constructed in 1961, however it was issued to be repaired in 1993.[2]
Response
[edit]Ibrahim Saber Khalil, governor of Cairo, created a committee to find the cause of the collapse, and ordered nearby buildings to evacuate for safety.[3] The Ministry of Social Solidarity has given victims monetary support, and the Egyptian Health Ministry sent nine ambulances.[4]
