Ahmed Malik (born January 12), also known by his mononym ahmed. (stylized in all lowercase with a period) and former pseudonym Brucesterious, is an Indian singer/songwriter. He is best known for his 2024 single "BREAK THE SILENCE" (featuring Christian Fletcher), which stands as his most streamed song, as well as his highest rated track on Album of The Year, reaching a score of 76.

Career

Ahmed Malik, born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, grew up playing the piano and guitar. In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided to pursue music as a full-time career. On June 10, 2021, he released his debut mixtape, Lost Memos. The mixtape was removed from streaming platforms in August 2021 and later re-released in June 2022, excluding the tracks Somewhere Out There and My Mind (feat. Isaac Gordon).^[1]

On August 17, 2022, Malik released Out of It (feat. blueberry beach, Isaac Gordon) as the lead single for his next mixtape, accompanied by a music video. The single became his most successful release under the moniker Brucesterious, leading to the release of his second mixtape, My Conundrum, on December 15, 2022. The mixtape featured collaborations with artists such as Jack Brzenk and L I L' G. Following this release, Malik announced he would retire the Brucesterious name and, after a brief hiatus, returned as “ahmed.”

Under his new moniker, Malik released sometimes on March 10, 2023, and later cold. on October 27, 2023. On January 12, 2024, Malik released BREAK THE SILENCE (feat. Christian Fletcher), which became his breakthrough single and remains his most-streamed song.

In preparation for his debut EP, Malik released the singles wounds (feat. Bailey Padgett) and song for a person I’ve never met, the latter featuring an accompanying music video. On November 8, 2024, his EP THE CURSE OF MEDIOCRITY was released on all major streaming platforms.
