Prof. (Dr.) A. A. Shetty (born 16 June 1955 as Asode Ananthram Shetty) is an Indian orthopaedic surgeon, scientist, and academic. He is widely known as A. A. Shetty in professional and academic circles. He is noted for his work in regenerative medicine and the application of stem cell technology in orthopaedics.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Prof. Shetty was born on 16 June 1955 in Asodu, Kundapur, India. He completed his postgraduate training at Guys’, Kings’, and St. Thomas’s School of Medicine, London. He holds fellowships including FRCS and FACS.
Career

- Emeritus Professor of Orthopaedics and Stem Cell Research, Canterbury Christ Church University, UK.
- Adjunct Professor, KMC Manipal, India.
Contributions and Research
[edit]Prof. Shetty's research focuses on stem cell technology for cartilage and bone regeneration. He co-developed the Autologous Collagen-Induced Chondrogenesis (ACIC: Shetty–Kim technique), a single-stage arthroscopic cartilage repair technique.[1]
