A.S.D. L.V.P.A. Frascati or more commonly LVPA Frascati, is an Italian football club founded in 1974, located in the town of Frascati, in the province of Rome.

History

[edit]

Formative years

[edit]

LVPA Frascati traces its origins to the meeting of two football teams from Lazio, who decide to combine their means and resources with the aim of establishing a competitive sporting partnership and economically solid one. In this way, from the merger between the Associazione Sportiva Frascati militant in the seventh Italiano division and the OMI Roma coming from Serie D, in the summer of 1974 the S.S. LVPA Frascati was born, officially "L.V.P.A." (from the Latin Ludentes Vivendi Perdiscimus Artem) which adopted Frascati as its headquarters and debuted in Serie D thanks to the OMI sports title. The first season of the newborn association was not particularly happy, as it was relegated to Promozione Laziale; however, within four years the club found itself in Serie C2.

The return to the amateurs

[edit]

First placed fifth, then in the following season in the penultimate place, the relegated club gave up its sports title of Serie D to Società Sportiva Romulea, and in Frascati in 1980 in the meantime the Polisportiva SIRS Frascati arose, playing in the Promozione Laziale, following the transfer of the title of SIRS Ciampino whose president was Giorgio Sale, who consequently became the first manager of the new Frascati club. But the experience did not give good results, and once relegated to the Prima Categoria the team was purchased by new members, and in 1984 changed its name to Associazione Calcio Lupa Frascati. After several years of alternating between Prima Categoria, Seconda Categoria and Promozione, the team achieved a second place in group D of the Promozione Lazio 1996-1997, earning a place in Eccellenza Lazio, Italian fifth division, where it remained until 2003, the season in which it finished the championship in first place and was admitted to the Serie D tournament. In that season the club merged with another local club, Gioc: in this circumstance, the Lupa management continued to manage the first team, while Gioc was responsible for administering the youth sector: the club took the name of A.S.D. Frascati Lupa Gioc and this name lasted two years: in fact, once relegated to Eccellenza in the following season, it opted to change its name in 2004 to A.S.D. Frascati Calcio, and also decided to stay in Serie D: in fact, it purchased the sports title of Cisco Calcio di Roma. After a few years, in Serie D, having finished last in Group F of Serie D, the Frascati club passed into the hands of a group headed by Giancarlo Romani, and from 2006-2007 it changed its name to A.S.D. Lupa Frascati. In the Eccellenza Lazio tournament, it lost the play-off for first place against Sora, and was thus forced to play the promotion play-offs, which it however lost in the final against Sansovino (3-4 and 2-2).

The change of name and the Lega Pro

[edit]

In the summer of 2011 the company passed to Alberto Cerrai, who became the new president. With the new management the team achieved promotion to Serie D already in its first season, and sixth place in group G of Serie D in the following season. At the end of the championship the club was moved from Frascati to Axa, a suburb of Rome, also changing its name from A.S.D. Lupa Frascati to A.S.D. Lupa Roma, In the meantime, in Frascati, to fill the football void left by Lupa Frascati, a new team was founded, Lupa Castelli Romani, later known as Racing Roma, which would register in Eccellenza. In the Serie D 2013-2014 tournament the team won group G, obtaining promotion to Lega Pro. Having achieved professionalism, the company eliminated the acronym "A.S.D." (Amateur Sports Association) from its name, becoming Lupa Roma Football Club srl. From the 2014-2015 championship, due to the requirements of the Lega Pro, the team moved to the Quinto Ricci Stadium of Aprilia. In 2019 the società declared the retire from the tournament.

The return

[edit]

In June 2024 in Frascati, the chairman Gianmarco Raparelli made the L.V.P.A. Frascati come back, and so the fans.

Colours and Crest

[edit]

the colors of LVPA are amaranth and orange, and the symbol is the keys of Saint Peter, both taken from the coat of arms of the Municipality of Frascati, and both are present in the team's crest. The third color that has always been used both in the crest and in the shirts is the blue. The nickname is "Tuscolani" due to the historical origins of the town, called "Tvscvlvm" in the Roman empire era.

Supporters and rivalries

[edit]

Supporters

[edit]

In the 70s in the packed stands of the VIII Settembre, there were no real groups organized following LVPA. In 2002 the "Banda Manolo" was born and a few years later together with the "Noise Group" they supported the LVPA until the year of its final bankruptcy. Therefore between 2013 and 2022 there will be a stalemate phase as the company will be absent. In the 2022/23 season, the LVPA Frascati returns and a new group will be born following the "LVPA Ultras", who the following year suspended their activity following the name change of the club to "Romana F.C.". They will return from the following season in the championship of Promotion thanks to the return of the LVPA Frascati, with its name and symbol. They are currently the main group of the VIII September stands.

Rivalries

[edit]

Frascati is located in the Castelli Romani area, so there is a heated rivalry with all the neighboring towns. The biggest rivalry is with the neighbors of Atletico Monteporzio, there are also heated rivalries with Vivace Grottaferrata, Albalonga, Marino, Rocca Priora, Cynthia and Colonna. The other rivalries outside the Castelli Romani area are with Sora and Isola Liri.

Stadium

[edit]

LVPA plays their home matches in VIII Settembre stadium, which has a capacity of 5000 seats and takes its name to remember the day in which the Americans bombarded Frascati in 1943. Before the construction of the VIII Settembre, the Frascati teams played at the Mamilio stadium, located in front of the VIII Settembre, and is considered the true home of the LVPA Frascati, commonly called in local dialect "A Bucia".
