9News Nigeria was founded in 2016 by Australian-based Nigerian, Mr Obinna Sunday Ejianya.[1] as an independent online media platform that seeks to positively influence the leaders and people of Nigeria and Africa by providing accurate and informative news content.

In 2021, 9News Nigeria organized an online poll ahead of the Anambra state governorship elections which was won by Valentine Chineto Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)[3]
