M. Rathnam was retained to produce this film under his Sri Surya Movies banner[4] and Selvaraghavan's frequent collaborator Yuvan Shankar Raja was roped in to score the music[5] while Ramji was assigned to handle the cinematography.[6]
The 2004 film had Sonia Agarwal as Anitha as the female lead,[7] but in late July 2023 it was reported that Aditi Shankar and Ivana were approached for the lead role.[8] By late-August 2023, it was confirmed that Anaswara Rajan[9] who last appeared in Tamil films Raangi (2022) and Thugs (2023) was selected to portray the lead role.[10] The film also stars Suman Setty and Sudha as Lakshmi Narayanan and Kadhir's mother respectively, reprising their roles from the previous film.[11] Jayaram was cast to play an important role.[12] Principal photography was reported to begin by the last week of August 2023.[13] During announcement, it was reported that the filming is nearing completion.[14]
