The 2025 Dunedin mayoral election is set to take place between the 9th of September 2025 and the 11th of October 2025. ^[1] The elections will be held in conjunction with other New Zealand local elections including the Otago Regional Council and Dunedin City Council elections.

Background

The election will be held using the Single Transferable Vote system. Voting will take place by post and through the returning of completed voting papers to ballot boxes. Issues include rates and the Dunedin Hospital rebuild.
