Submission declined on 25 December 2024 by DoubleGrazing (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of events). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by DoubleGrazing 4 days ago. |
- Comment: Concur with DoubleGrazing. Merge to existing article on the wharf Bkissin (talk) 22:07, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I don't think this is notable enough an event to justify its own article. Besides, the collapse is already covered in the main article on Santa Cruz Wharf, and this draft seems to be identical in content. DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:38, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

On December 23, 2024, an approximately 150-foot (46 m) section at the end of the Santa Cruz Wharf collapsed due to high waves. At the time of the collapse, the wharf had been undergoing repairs. The wharf was under repair before the collapse due to a previous storm the year prior; one city project manager and two contractors fell into the ocean together with equipment, two of whom were rescued while the third swam to safety.[1]The public restroom building and a seafood restaurant fell into the water.[2] After the collapse the wharf closed and remains closed.[3][1]
