The 1988 California Republican presidential primary was held on June 7, 1988, as a part of the Republican Party's statewide nomination process for the upcoming presidential election. Vice President George H. W. Bush of Texas gained more then three-fourths of the vote against Senator Bob Dole of Kansas and political commentator Pat Robertson of Virginia

Bush would go on to win the nomination and would win the general election against the Democratic ticket of Governor Michael Dukakis of Massachusetts and Senator Lloyd Bentsen of Texas. Bush would also be the last Republican to lose the state of California in the general election.
