This was the 1st tournament held by the Mexico Segunda Division B, created the year before as an intermediate division between the third and the second division. The league was made up by 20 teams that were split into 4 groups.

[edit]U.A.Tamaulipas was promoted to the Segunda division .
Promotional playoff (between the third team seeded of Tercera División and the third poor team of Segunda B) Estudiantes Chiapas lost it playoff relegation series against Tenancingo and was relegated
Salmantino, Durango and Estudiantes Chiapas relegated to Tercera División
Changes for the next season:
Relegated from Segunda División A: Tapatío and Cuautla
Promoted from Tercera División: U.A. Querétaro (runners-up),
New teams: Salina Cruz and Pumas E.N.E.P.
Irapuato bought the franchise of Atlético Valladolid and was promoted to Segunda División A
U.A.B.J. bought the franchise of Tampico and was promoted to Segunda División A
Santos I.M.S.S. moved to Torreón and changes its name to Santos Laguna
Celaya sold its franchise to Aguascalientes
Since 1983-84 season all wins on away condition: 3 points
