The École française de San Pédro, also known as "Les Hibiscus," is a primary and secondary educational institution in Côte d'Ivoire.

Location

[edit]

Established in 1987, it is located in San-Pédro, the capital of the Bas-Sassandra District, in the western part of the country, near the Liberian border.

Description

[edit]

The École française de San Pédro served French, Lebanese, and other expatriates until 2004. It was partially managed by the families of these expatriates but also admitted local children.

The school catered to children from preschool (petite section) up to the ninth grade (troisième). Afterward, students had to move to the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire, Abidjan, to continue their education.

The school has reopened under the name École française Jacques-Monod (EFJM), but it has not yet regained accreditation from the French Ministry of National Education.
