Lisa (Diz) Glithero is a professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Education.[1] Glithero advocates for youth involvement in the natural world.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Glithero obtained a bachelor's degree from Dalhousie University in 1996.[2] She then got a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University in 2001 and a Master of Education from the same institution in 2004.[2] Finally, she received a PhD from the University of Ottawa in 2015.[2]
Career
[edit]Glithero has spearheaded the development for the first ever Ocean Literacy Strategy and has received numerous awards for this.[3]
She is the winner of the "Alex Trebek Medal for Geographic Literacy," awarded by The Royal Canadian Geographical Society.[1] This medal is awarded to individuals who contribute significantly to geographic literacy.[4]
Glithero is the national coordinator of the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition.[4] Additionally, in 2018 she received both the Outstanding Educator of the Year award from the Canadian Network for Environmental Education & Communication and the Ocean Education Organization Award from Ocean Wise.[5]
