Denys Yusupovych Paramonov (Ukrainian: Денис Юсупович Парамонов) (born 14 September 1973, Ordzhonikidzeabad, Tajik SSR) is a Ukrainian businessman, owner of SMK Group, co-investor of the Business 100 newspaper,[1] and member of the Ukrainian Business Council Foundation.[2]
Biography
[edit]In 2019, Paramonov moved with his family from Kharkiv to Kyiv.
In 1995, Paramonov started working at a Small Private Enterprise "Virage", and held the position of deputy commercial director in 1996–2000.
In 2000, Paramonov founded a sausage factory in Saltivka microdistrict of Kharkiv. In 2003, it was renamed Saltivsky Meat Processing Plant.[3] In 2007, the company became one of the five largest producers of sausages and meat products in Ukraine.[4]
In 2002, Paramonov founded a 24,000-head pig farm in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region (Svitanok Farm) He invested in growing walnuts in the Kharkiv region.
In 2006, Paramonov acquired the Bohodukhivsky meat processing plant, and in 2007 - the Berdiansky meat processing plant.[5]
In 2007, Paramonov founded SMK Group, which united Saltivsky, Berdiansky and Bohodukhivsky meat processing plants, Svitanok agricultural company and 650 company stores.[6][7]
In 2019, Paramonov acquired the assets of the Bila Tserkva Meat Processing Plant, renamed it the Kyivsky Meat Processing Plant, and reopened the meat deboning shop.
In 2020, Denys Paramonov founded the online supermarket "Cooker".[6][8][9][10]
Social activities
[edit]Since 2003 he has supported urban improvement projects, freestyle wrestling, rowing and children's rugby tournaments.[11][12][13]
In 2020, he founded the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation, which declares the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of art, support for education, sports and health. The Foundation supports the best students of ONAFT and NUAFT with personalized scholarships. It helps to restore the building of the National Literary and Memorial Museum of Skovoroda. In 2020, the Foundation began cooperation with the Kharkiv Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, sponsoring the Spartak Show Ballet.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, it has supported the hospitals in Zmiiv,[14] Melitopol[15] and Bohodukhiv.[16][17]
In July 2023, the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation held a "Donate to Hospitals - Drive a Bentley" campaign, which raised more than 2.7 million UAH. At that time, philanthropist Denys Paramonov donated his own luxury Bentley car to charity. According to his decision, all donations were used to purchase expensive equipment for 10 hospitals in different parts of Ukraine.[18]
In the spring of 2024, the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation held another campaign to help hospitals - Tesla for Donation. This time Denys Paramonov donated his own Tesla Model 3 electric car to charity. The campaign raised over 2 million UAH in donations from Ukrainians. All these funds will be used to purchase equipment for hospitals, especially for paediatric healthcare facilities, as the campaign was held on Children's Day. Denys Paramonov and SMK Group will also allocate an additional 5 million UAH to equip the Heart Institute, which is the flagship of transplantation in Ukraine.[19]
Thanks to Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation, free boxing clubs SMK-SPORT[20] are open for children in Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv and the village of Horkoho in Kharkiv region. There is also a rowing section for children in Bila Tserkva. The Foundation has provided the section's pupils with all the necessary equipment, and training is free of charge. The children rowers take part in various competitions in other regions, as well as training camps in the Carpathians.[21] Before the start of the Kharkiv Region Football Championship in the 2024/2025 season, the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation and the SMK Group sponsored the NIKA SMK football club. The club's budget is 1.6 million UAH.[22]
In 2024, the Denys Paramonov Charity Foundation entered the top 5 largest philanthropic organizations in Ukraine in terms of helping hospitals.[23][24] In November 2024, in an interview with journalists, Denys Paramonov said that he was not going to relocate his business from Kharkiv region, as well as about the opening of a new Saltowsky meat processing plant in Poland and new formats for his Charity Foundation.Personal life.[25][26]
He is married, and has two sons.
