Denise Bronzetti (born 12 December 1972) is a Sammarinese politician who previously served as a Captain Regent. She held the post from 1 October 2012 to 1 April 2013, with Teodoro Lonfernini. She was previously a member of the Grand and General Council.[1] On 1 April 2025, she will become Captain Regent once more, and will serve alongside Italo Righi.
Biography
[edit]Denise Bronzetti was born on 12 December 1972 in San Marino. After graduating from high school, Bronzetti worked as a public servant. At the age of 15, she joined the Partito Socialista Sammarinese youth organization. From March 2003 to December 2007 she was a member of the PSS (or PSD) secretariat. She was a member of the PSD's executive committee and was president of the party from July 24, 2009 until she left the party in September 2013.
From 1999 to 2002 she was secretary of the FUPI-CSdL union and on the CSdL board. From 1999 to 2002, Bronzetti was a member of the Parliamentary Commission for Equality and from December 2002 to the end of 2003 she was personal assistant to the Minister of Justice.
In 2006 she was elected to the San Marinese Parliament, the Grand and General Council. She entered parliament again in the 2008 elections. She was chairwoman of the Interior Committee and a member of the San Marinese group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union. On September 17, 2012, together with Teodoro Lonfernini, she was elected Captains Regent, head of state of San Marino, by the Grand and General Council for the period from October 1, 2012 to April 1, 2013. In the elections of November 11, 2012 she was re-elected to the Grand and General Council. She is a member of the Consiglio dei XII, the Parliamentary Permanent Committee on Foreign Policy, and is part of the Parliamentary Assembly's delegation to the OSCE. She became parliamentary group leader of the PSD, but resigned from the party on September 17, 2013. She then continued to support the government as an independent MP. In the 2016 parliamentary election, Bronzetti ran as an independent on the Partito Socialista (PS) list and received the most votes. She is a member of the Foreign Affairs and Justice Committee and is part of the San Marinese delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
