De Zandbak

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

De Zandbak was a hacklab in Leiden in the Netherlands from 2004 to circa 2006. Starting with the squatting of "coffeeshop Bebop" on the 26th of June 2004,[1] the founders wanted to setup a free internet workplace using only open source software. They later moved into the Multipleks squat.[2][3]

Next to offering free internet access and information on open source and Linux, there was a fair bit of experimenting going on and eventually they organised the hacker event 'zandhack' in March 2006.[4] This event got repeated only once more 4 years later in the new Multipleks squat after zandbak already ceased to exist as a space.[5]
