Darin Smith is an American attorney and politician who is member-elect of the Wyoming Senate from the 6th district.[1] In 2024, he ran in a crowded Republican primary to succeed incumbent senator Anthony Bouchard. Endorsed by Donald Trump, he won the primary with 37.6 percent of the vote.[2] He served as an executive with the Christian Broadcasting Network for over 11 years, and was also a candidate for Wyoming's at-large congressional district in 2016 and 2022.[3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Smith was born in Laramie, Wyoming and was raised in Rock Springs.[1] He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1996, where he was on the wrestling team and was an Honorable Mention Academic All-American in 1994 and 1995.[5] Smith received a law degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2000.[1]
Personal life
[edit]Smith is a Christian. He is married to Alicia Smith. Together they have five children. One of their sons attends the United States Navel Academy and another son attends the United States Military Academy.[5]
