The Croatian Women's Second Football League (Croatian: Druga Hrvatska nogometna liga za žene, usually abbreviated as Druga HNLŽ) is the second tier of Croatian women's football league framework. The Druga HNLŽ has a promotion and relegation system with the top-tier Prva HNLŽ.
Format
[edit]Druga HNLŽ consists of two divisions, known as group A and group B, each with eight teams, although seasonal variations occur depending on club registrations. Each division is played out as a triple round-robin tournament, with each team playing each opponent thrice, at least once home. Which teams get the extra home advantage is determined through a draw.[1]
After the end of the regular season, the champions of the two divisions meet in a two-legged promotion play-off. The winner earns a direct promotion to Prva HNLŽ. Meanwhile, the loser has another chance at promotion by participating in the Prva HNLŽ relegation play-off against the 3rd placed team in the Prva HNLŽ qualification group.[1]
