Claudine Drai (born 21 February 1951 in Angoulême) is a French visual artist.

Biography

[edit]

In 1975, after being accepted to the entrance exam at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, she decided to work as a self-taught artist. In 1984, she attended a year of courses at the École Supérieure de Dessin d'Art in Montparnasse. Over the years, this artist has invented worlds and spaces where the sensation of materials—paper, silk, fragrance, words, light—awaken all our senses. In 1994, Claudine Drai began her first research on perfume and integrated olfaction into her creations, thanks to her meeting and collaboration with Barbara Le Portz, Director of the French Division of Fine Perfumery at Quest International.[1]

In 1999, she took her first trip and organized her first exhibition in Japan. She expanded her creative scope in 2001 by staging her texts Visage de craie, directed by Stéphane Vérité at the Le Proscenium Theater in Île-de-France. She repeated this type of experience in June 2005.[2]
