Chung Yong-jin (Korean: 정용진; born 19 September 1968) is a South Korean business executive who is the current chairperson of Shinsegae since March 2024.
Early life and education
[edit]Chung is the only son of Lee Myung-hee, chairwoman of Shinsegae Group and grandson of Samsung founder Lee Byung-chul. He graduated from Kyungbock High School and gained Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University.[1][2]
Personal life
[edit]Chung is the cousin of Samsung Group chairman Lee Jae-yong and CJ Group chairman Lee Jay-hyun.[3]
In 1995, he married Go Hyun-jung, had two children — Jung Hae-chan in 1998 and Jung Hae-in in 2000. They divorced on 2003 and he gained custody of both children.[4]
In 2011, it was announced that he would marry flutist Han Ji-hee.[5]
He's known in the South Korean business world to freely communicate with the public via social media.[2]
