Chirocentrus nudus, the whitefin wolf-herring, is a fish species from the genus Chirocentrus of the family Chirocentridae. It is a coastal fish found in Marine neritic waters feeding mainly on other small fish.
Description
[edit]Whitefin wolf-herring have slender, elongated bodies, fang like canine teeth, and small scales. They can grow up to 100 cm (39 in) in length and around 410 g (14 oz) in weight.
Range
[edit]Whitefin wolf-herring are found throughout the Indo-Pacific, mainly in Indonesia and Oceania and possibly in the Mascarene Islands.
Fisheries
[edit]The whitefin wolf-herring is a commercial species which is sold fresh, dried, salted or frozen. It is also a game fish. Whitefin wolf-herring is a commonly consumed fish in many Asian and European countries. [3]
