Abeysinghe Charith Wasantha Kumara (born November 27, 1982, in Horana, Sri Lanka as චරිත් අබේසිංහ) popular known as Charith Abeysinghe is an award-winning Sri Lankan tele-cinema director, producer, cinematographer, singer,[1] actor,[2] presenter,[3] and socio-political narrator.[4]

Career

Charith Abesinghe gained early recognition in 2007 with the production of Juliya,[5] a Sri Lankan film shot entirely in High Definition, making it one of the country's most expensive films. The movie was also the first Sri Lankan film to be completed at Pinewood Studios in London.

In addition to his work in cinema, Charith has contributed to several television dramas such as Wassanaye Hiru Avidin (2001), Sonduru Kadalla (2014) Chakra (2014), Prana (2016), Gemunu Maharaja (2017), Yan (2019),[6] Kumi (2019), Sathya (2020), Thadee (2021), Number 09 (2022), Chandi Kumarihami (2023), Bambarek Awith (2024),[7] Take Care (2023), and Meemassa (2024). He directed and acted in the 2018 teledrama Mini Gandala.

Abeysinghe hosts the Sri Lankan edition of 5 Million Money Drop.[3]
