Contested deletion

[edit]

This category should not be speedy deleted as being unpopulated, because... it has been empty for less than twenty-four hours, not more than seven days. In addition, I previously added an article to the category, which I will now re-add. --Erpert blah, blah, blah... 15:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The speedy deletion process takes 7 days, so it takes that long to be eligible for deletion, which is what the tag implies. Otherwise, it would take 14 days for an empty category to be deleted. As long as its populated, this category is safe from being deleted under this criteria. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 17:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

At the time of writing this, the sole member of the category is Blue Magic (song) which also has the following (inter alia) cats: Category:Songs written by Denzil Foster, Category:Songs written by Thomas McElroy and now the recently added Category:Songs written by Foster & McElroy. As can be easily seen these are overlapping cats. Foster & McElroy are a song production duo, and in line with other production duos, the production is shown jointly and the songwriting individually. This applies to songwriting/production groups, especially those where the contributors to the song are variable. Most songwriters work with more than one songwriter, and most of the famous songwriting pairings are split up, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Kander & Ebb, and where they are not split up we have to ask ourselves why are they not? Shouldn’t all McCartney’s songs be in one category? Shouldn’t Band on the Run (McCartney)and Yesterday (credited Lennon/McCartney) be in the same category?--Richhoncho (talk) 19:28, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
