  • @Nederlandse Leeuw: doesn't this expand the scope a lot? I am not sure but I can imagine the Serbian Orthodox Church shares sainthood recognition with most of its sister churches. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:38, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marcocapelle Not really. For comparison, look at Template:Serbian Orthodox saints, which has also already been retitled Saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church. NLeeuw (talk) 08:21, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Nederlandse Leeuw: I don't think a retitling of a template says a lot. According to [1] the Eastern Orthodox churches recognize each others' saints by default. So it should at least become something like Category:Saints declared by the Serbian Orthodox Church, in order to clarify that it is not about recognition. But that in turn may raise verification issues with saints from long time ago. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:53, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that if you've got an issue with the phrase/concept Saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church as such, it is best discussed at Talk:List of saints of the Serbian Orthodox Church. I'm only suggesting to bring the category name in conformity with the main article. If it is true that Eastern Orthodox churches automatically recognise whatever saint was canonised by any one of them, then I may even agree with you, and would suggest renaming the main article to List of saints canonised/canonized by the Serbian Orthodox Church or something. In other words, it would be a list of canonisations made by Church X rather than a list of saints recognised by Church X, otherwise we would indeed get a lot of unnecessary WP:OVERLAP. FYI: Marcocapelle and I decided to indeed take the discussion over to the talk page. I invite others to participate. I expect it will take some time to reach consensus, so I shall withdraw for now. (Taking it to full CFD will not help at this stage, as it will de-centralise the discussion.)
