SOUTHERN DISTRICTS RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB

LOCATION: R.A."CHIPSY" WOOD MEMORIAL OVAL

             YERONGA PARK ANNERLEY
             BRISBANE. QUEENSLAND
             AUSTRALIA
The club was formed in 1948 with the amalgamation between the YMCA club and a team from West End. The YMCA club was a strong force in the local rugby competition before the war but because of the break and the loss of a number of players the ranks had dwindled quite dramatically and the West End club was a fledging team formed after the war.
The amalgamation resulted in a very competitive team in the A Grade competition and competed in the 1948 Semi-finals. this team was coached by Eddie Bonis who was the Australian hooker before the war and was also the most capped Australian player up until that time.
The Club was run on a budget of 100 Pound for the year and fully outfitted 3 teams in the Brisbane Competition which is hard to believe knowing what it takes to run a football club in these times.
