Name change?

That could get confused with national level ones, like Philmont and Florida Sea Base.Rlevse 14:05, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

notability

[edit]

What is the difference between a notable and a non-notable local council camp? What makes a camp notable?

I have attempted to create a well-sourced article on a local council camp, but it has been deleted as being a "non-notable" subject. I provided many sources asserting notability - however these have been overlooked and the article deleted based on being assumed to be a recreation of a previously deleted (and unsourced) article on the topic. The camp is just as notable as many of the other camps included in this category (I know because I have been to many of the camps here). Furthermore, the article was well-sourced to show notability (citing more outside sources than most of the articles in here).

I don't want to be the "if you delete one you have to delete everything" guy -- but if some of these camps have articles, why is a camp that is just as notable (if not more so) and the article is well-written, researched and sourced not permitted as well. I have been unable to engage of the objectors in actual discussion on the subject an I feel like no one is listening to me. - Minsi (talk) 22:17, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I too would like to know. I tagged many of these articles for their lack of asserting notability and/or for lack of citing any sources. I'm not saying these camps are not a notable subjects, but many of these articles (as they are written now) don't show or explain what the notability is. Is there a standard, guideline or policy for gauging the notability of a local council camp? What is the minimal standard needed for a local council camp to be considered notable? Or are all local council camps just inherently notable? ScoutCruft (talk) 02:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
