I've edited the template. There are three "by year and genre" parents left in the base category. Maybe keep Category:Lists of films by year as a parent of those three and the two new categories? * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 16:32, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping this as a parent category for the new subcategories is precisely what I suggested in my CFD nomination anyway, so obviously I have no objection to that. So long as the by-year and by-language categories are funneled into more specific subcategories, this obviously still has value as a parent for those. Bearcat (talk) 19:52, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
