Misleading?

The category seems to me likely to be less than helpful to our readers. Some plays given this label are certainly Irish plays - The Colleen Bawn, Dancing at Lughnasa, Juno and the Paycock, The Quare Fellow, Riders to the Sea, Juno and the Paycock and The Playboy of the Western World are very clearly Irish plays, but, e.g. Salome, though by a writer born in Ireland was written in French in Paris and is set in the Holy Land. I don't think it is helpful to call it an "Irish play". I'm also wondering why Wilde has been singled out from other writers born in Ireland whose plays have been adapted for the cinema. I won't enumerate them lest some well-meaning soul slaps the same misleading label on their works. Tim riley talk 07:32, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
