Hey HIST315 -
So, I don't know about you guys, but I feel really weird and bad about editing someone else's page, especially because mine is still such a mess; however, the deadline is coming up and I would kind of like some sort of discussion to happen...
Consider this post to be breaking the ice, I guess.
My concern is the nationality law angle, and how to do something more than a review of legislation like the British Nationality Law page, but at the same time not do too much of my own interpretation.
Ideas?
- Molly
My suggestion would be to address the laws that pertain specifically to the shaping of nationality. for example, on my page for cyprus (still a mess ill admit but getting slowly better) i talk about how in the constitution, they have to clearly define greek and turkish cypriots. the bi-communal nature of cypriot society is an integral part to nationality for the people of cyprus, so i chose to include those specific pieces of legislation. that way, you're not intepreting anything, but it makes it easy to understand the implications of said legislation on nationality. if you can find laws like that whcih apply directly to the formation of nationality, i would like to think you'll be on the right track! best of luck
"Nationality is the legal relationship between a person and a state." This is the article's first sentence and it is fundamentally wrong. I have not checked through the rest of the article yet but if this basic misunderstanding has filtered down then the article will need to be re-written.
