Composers

This category is within the scope of the WikiProject Composers, a group of editors writing and developing biographical articles about composers of all eras and styles. There are way too many composers on this page. If someone has the time, they should seperate the composers into two categories: well known and less well known composers. If you click on some of these composers, they are completely secondary, they have no works you can find recordings (much less scores) of, and really are of no interest or use. Some one who wants to listen to French composers would find this page more frustrating than helpful.

This suggestion seems reasonable on first reading - but: might one not ask well-known or less well-known to whom? Getting agreement on which is which would probably result in non-stop arguments!

So - may I suggest an alternative: why not divide up French composers according to date of birth (or - indeed of death)? In that way, there can at least be a minimum of quibbling! Hair Commodore (talk) 12:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
