page where we can discuss the creation of those templates

[edit]

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a page where we can discuss the creation of those templates (other then Wikipedia:Categories for deletion...).--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 16:31, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this talk page would be fine for now—what would you like to discuss? —Doug Bell talkcontrib 08:32, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As of this writing, there's no Theatre Related subcategory. There are several templates, such as four Internet Broadway Database templates and four Internet Off-Broadway Database templates, which could go into such a category. I'm going to create it. --Larrybob (talk) 06:02, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

do all citation templates have external links?

[edit]

do all citation templates have external links? because if so, then should all the citation templates be grouped into that subcategory, AND then the citation template group be 1 single subcategory under this one. Bud0011 (talk) 17:40, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Book and printed article citation templates need not have external links -- there may be no relevant online source. 129.42.208.186 (talk) 16:41, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB?

[edit]

The blurb at the top of the category describes IMDB as highly reliable. Much of IMDB appears to be written at the whim of promoters (and self promoters). I suggest a better example, very tentatively bbc.co.uk (which is not without its own problems, of course). Better suggestions? -- Hoary (talk) 04:35, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB is highly reliable for information about the existence of a movie, and for production information and the cast and credits information. MarkAtwood (talk) 18:35, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GLANSIS template?

[edit]

I want to create a template for the GLANSIS database on certain fish species so I can add species fact sheets to articles on aquatic invasives. Many links were broken and removed after a web upgrade. Hope to prevent future problems. Greatlakesavenger (talk) 18:02, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a page that discusses how to create an external link template? I am hoping to create a template for the Museum of Modern Art's online collection, which will allow me to link to artists' pages and collection objects. Thanks, Cbernasc (talk) 22:03, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The page Wikipedia:Template messages and the links there, particularly Wikipedia:Template messages/Links#External links and Help:Template, might be good places to start to get an understanding of templates. Rather than starting afresh, it's of course easier to find a related template and build on that. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:16, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
