[edit]Most manufacturers make both petrol and diesel engines so I am thinking of deleting Category:Diesel engines by maker and Category:Petrol engines by maker and moving the contents to Category:Engines by maker. Please discuss. Biscuittin (talk) 14:01, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- oppose This is pointless - even if there is little gained by distinguishing, there is nothing achieved by merging.
- Secondly, many manufacturers do indeed specialise in one or the other. Not all piston engines are going into domestic cars, where the makers do have a large overlap. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:05, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Merge?
[edit]Should Category:Engines by maker be merged with Category:Engine manufacturers? Biscuittin (talk) 14:17, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- No One contains engines, one contains businesses.
- There is though some confusion about Engines by maker/maunfacturer/brand across WP and Commons. I think Commons has some vague precedents in place for one or the other. Andy Dingley (talk) 14:41, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I'll leave it alone. Do you have any views on my diesel/petrol engine proposal (above)? Biscuittin (talk) 15:38, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
