Naming

[edit]

This umbrella category should probably be renamed, as "college radio" is a US-specific term not used in any other country. It's legitimate for the US-specific subcategory to use that term, but the general umbrella category should be named with a more neutral, internationally suitable default term. Even the head article is titled campus radio rather than college radio; the latter term just redirects to the first one.

However, the CFR process requires that the new name be proposed at the time of the nomination, so I'm initiating a discussion here to solicit ideas as to what the new name should be. Bearcat 19:37, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Student radio" would probably be best - that way the category can also include articles on high school radio and the major awards. Timrollpickering 13:40, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I've now gone ahead and done this; it was also consistent with the naming of other student media categories (i.e. Category:Student newspapers, Category:Student television stations, etc.) Bearcat 08:48, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
