[edit]Leading possibilities only, for now: per Paris gossip + headlines + polls... The trouble with French election campaigns being that, unlike US and some other, in France they "officially" are so short that by the time they're happening they're over...
These 2007 présidentielles, for example, in fact will occur in only fifteen months, separated by two weeks, in April-May 2007, and the campaign officially is restricted to only one month, I believe, before that: all this by very strict French election law. But already now, in France -- early 2006 -- the headlines and rumblings are under way, just as they do 1+ years in advance nowadays in the US case. So if any Wikipedia user wants to find out about and follow the 2007 French présidentielles, they really must begin now: if they wait until the formal event, it will be too late by then for them to catch up.
This isn't really a "future" election, in other words, it's already happening: these candidates already are campaigning, writing books or at least having them written, staging photo-ops, kissing babies (but they don't do that in France, do they?), spending money...

Jean-Marie Le Pen
[edit]JM Le Pen is in this category, but he is not yet candidate for the presidential election. In France, to be candidate for a presidential election we must get 500 signatures from elected persons (mayors, deputies, etc...).But JM Le Pen don't have it yet. He has 3 weeks left to get all his signatures. Martial BACQUET 16:05, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
