Scotland
[edit]At present, people have put a number of early battles in the category "Battles involving Scotland" which clearly pre-date the creation of a unitary Scottish kingdom, the category guideline says they should not be included. The trouble is, what do we do with them? I created a category "Battles involving the Picts", then "Battles involving Dál Riata". However, is this overdoing it? We potentially have yet another category "Battles involving the Kingdom of Strathclyde". Are we in danger of "Battles by country" ending up including a very large number of sub-categories, some of them referring to obscure peoples or kingdoms and only containing a handful of battles. Would it be better to lump them together in one category "Battles involving the peoples of early Scotland"? Should we sub-categorise this by e.g. Picts, Dál Riata, Strathclyde? Even then we have a grey area since Strathclyde was incorporated into Scotland slightly later than the unification of the Picts and Scots. PatGallacher 09:21, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
